*Jean Boucault, is a carpenter in seat received master in Paris in 1728, he settled on the street of Cléry. Although his activity lasted more than fifty years, the number of his works was not very abundant. His productions in the Louis the XVth, Transition and Louis the XVIth styles are of good quality, worked with great care and elegance and carved soberly or simply molded. It is mentioned that he worked for the Garde Meuble de la Cour. He stopped his activities in 1780.
Our opinion :
As for all the seats of Jean Boucault, the office chair we present has a great originality while maintaining pure lines.
If the majority of the seats of this type are constituted of two high side rails and two armrests, the master innovates on our chair by using only one part for each side ; the back and the armrest being cut in the same piece of wood.
To achieve this prowess, he compensates for the large amplitude of this piece of wood by two small additions that finish the curves of the shoulders.
He treats each low side rail in the manner of a classic armchair front rail, with a motif centered on a strongly molded rail.
Jean Boucault is one of the most appreciated carpenters among chair collectors, because of his creativity which is never at the expense of comfort and sturdiness.
Our example, particularly nervous while remaining very fluid, illustrates perfectly the talent that this artist will implement during the reign of Louis XV.
